Mr Alistair Irwin is a full time spinal surgeon practising at the RVI Newcastle and TSS Gateshead.
Having qualified from Newcastle University, he subsequently did his post graduate training within Newcastle and surrounding areas. Mr Irwin then undertook a spinal fellowship in Newcastle before being winning the BOA Soli Lam award and completing further travelling fellowships in Birmingham, Oxford and Copenhagen. He has a number of research interests and regularly lecture at the Newcastle medical school.
He undertakes all aspects of adult spinal surgery including minimally invasive techniques. Within the RVI Newcastle, he also has a specialist interest spinal tumours including spinal sarcomas which is one of only 5 sarcoma centres in England.
