Mr Paul O’Loughlin qualified in medicine from Newcastle University and completed his surgical training throughout the North East of England.
He has a specialist interest in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
Following his colorectal surgical training, Mr O’Loughlin completed a specialised fellowship in Oxford. This fellowship specialised in:
Mr O’Loughlin has been a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital since February 2014.
During his time at the QE Hospital, he has helped augment the existing colorectal service with innovations from this fellowship training. He offers colorectal surgical services, and endoscopy. He also provides treatment for common general surgical conditions and takes part in the general surgery on-call.
Mr O’Loughlin is the surgical lead for the new Emergency Care Centre at QE Hospital. In addition to his surgical practice, he takes an active interest in research and audit within the department.
